The Man Hours Continue

As the wall construction continues we again mark the floors, this time for the plumbing pipe runs. We are adding two bathrooms (one ADA compliant= wheelchair accessible etc) and a full bar with sinks, washing stations, ice bins and makers, new house trap etc ect.

Meanwhile with the joists in we continue with the supper level studs and start blocking for the door locations (Blocking= adding wood backing to screw into.) With the floor slabs cut the laborious task of removing the cement begins.

Real macho work, I’m talking jackhammers, pick axes digging bars the whole shebang. You can see we’ve framed the ramp handrail wall as well.

Joists and Bolts

Now a top track is capped over the first floor studs. 20 gauge steel studs were used to accommodate a 200 pound live load. We used 18 gauge metal c joists to span 9 feet across to the existing brick wall. The joists rested atop the new metal stud wall at one end and opposite we bolted 18 gauge c metal with two rows of 3/8 tap-cons set two inches into the brick, every 8” inches off center.

Sexy bolt pattern right?

The joists are cut & set in place.

The King Studs Arrive

Next we installed king studs at the corners (floor to ceiling). Then studs are placed for the first floor level.

And here we have a tiny dog in a bun, just for fun.
